17 to 19 sep 2007, warsaw

the tomato pasta that we cook almost every night. this was one of the nicer looking ones.

this dog was barking endlessly outside this shop while his owner shopped inside

Pawiak Prison Museum - closed for renovation at the time of visit. It was a Gestapo prison during the Nazi occupation.

Monument to the Warsaw Rising - this striking set of statuary honors the heroic Polish revolt against the German rule in 1914.

Chopin's heart is preserved in the pillar of this church. It was brought from Paris where he died of tuberculosis aged only 39.

the Church of the Holy Cross - this church is big and beautiful and i wonder if that is real gold in front...

our 10 persons dormitory room at hostel tamka. booking on the internet is cheaper than walk-ins. it was 10 vs 13 euros per dorm.

he's a construction site worker. i like his jumpsuit uniform... heheh

and white on the other...

the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It contains the remains of a soldier who died between 1918 and 1920.

Warsaw was a devastated piece of land during WWII. it is now a fast-paced business centre of Poland.
according to one local, this tall building (which probably looks like the Empire State building in America)which is standing at the back of this picture was built and donated by Russia.
