we were one of the lucky few to be let into his house for a brief
tour. ah bu old house "阿不老屋" - this house was built before the cultural revolution. the owner, ah bu and his family were imprisoned by the chinese government for more than 30 years and were later released when mr. deng xiaoping came on board.
gobbling down spicy noodles in the tibetan food market - 3 yuan (=sgd 0.60 per bowl)
while seated in the prayer hall, we observed how this tibetan old woman prostrate and circumembulated the hall, mumbling words of prayers.

she's doing this everyday, weaving some traditional costume
si fang jie "四方街". during the daytime, it was filled with food hawkers. in the evening, the square is cleared for an hour or two where people gathered to form a circle and dance to the music. this happens everyday. it was really joyful to dance with them though i hardly catch their dance steps.
