16 to 18 august 2007, mestia + border crossing into Turkey

after an overnight train ride, we took a mini-van up to mestia

13 to 15 august, back in Tbsilisi again + a day trip to Gori to visit Stalin museum

a train carriage which Stalin used to travel to the Potsdam Conference in 1945. it is bulletproof and had a simple and elegant interior.
this was a perfectly preserved house where Stalin had lived till he was 15.

we're reaching... stay out from the uv rays




our mission for the day: to hike up to the church on top of this hill. it is called Tsminda Sameba Church aka Holy Trinity church which was built in the 14th century.

this was our room at Bella's place. her house smells of milk all the time as Bella was always making her own cheese and butter. i was surprised to find someone who knows how to do that.
the only toilet that they have here is out in the barn. its a shit hole and it was really an experience to pee at night...
15 Laris per person for a full board lodging. it's a good deal!
